  84. with a Pejorative shuttle rising up out of the atmosphere.  TUUD,
  85. standing in the command position (front and center, facing the
  86. viewscreen), speaks to the viewscreen.

  88. TUUD            Pejorative Shuttle 4Q2, you are cleared for
  89.                 docking.  Release your helm to our navigational
  90.                 control.

  92. SFX: AUDIO CHANNEL COMMOTION

  98. TUUD            Major Tuud to security -- possible hijacking,

  101. One voice from the shuttle drowns out the others.

  103. SFX: RECEDING AUDIO CHANNEL COMMOTION

  105. AMPLA(VO)       Adi, is that you?

  107. TUUD            Premother Ampla?  Security, cancel previous
  108.                 alert.
  109.  
  110. AMPLA(VO)       No, this is the spirit of the Guy Lombardo coming
  111.                 to reclaim the Holy Sock.  Of course it's your
  112.                 premother.  
  113.  
  114.  
  115. A look of panic and terror comes over TUUD.  GEORGE walks into Control
  116. and, interested in what's going on, strides up behind her.  TUUD,
  117. stunned by the though of AMPLA's visit, adopts a blank smile as she 
  118. responds.
  119.  
  120. TUUD            Oh, good.  
  121.  
  122. TUUD turns away from the viewscreen to talk to a technician.
  123.  
  124. TUUD            (Barely audible) Kill our outgoing video!
  125.  
  126. TUUD faces the viewscreen again.
  127.  
  128. AMPLA(VO)       You can't see me because the pilot broke the
  129.                 camera with his head after I asked him for the
  130.                 headset the first time. 
  131.  
  132. TUUD is on emotional autopilot; her smile is obviously superficial.
  133.  
  134. TUUD            What a coincidence.  We're having trouble with our
  135.                 video too!
  136.  
  137. AMPLA(VO)       Anyway, stooshie, it's been too long since I saw 
  138.                 my favorite postdaughter, so I decided to visit.
  139.  
  140. TUUD            Oh, how _nice_.
  141.  
  142. AMPLA(VO)       So, when do I get _off_ this crate?
  143.  
  144. TUUD bites her lip and looks around for an excuse.
  145.  
  146. TUUD            (Sotto voce) Oh, spock.  I need time.  Of course!
  147.                 (Aloud) Well, you're nearly docked, but we'll
  148.                 have to do some routine safety and security
  149.                 scans, which will take some time.
  150.  
  151. TUUD grimaces, bracing herself for the response to her next utterance.
  152.  
  153. TUUD            Probably about an eighth-day.
  154.  
  155. AMPLA(VO)       _That_ long?  
  156.  
  157. TUUD grabs a large ball of loosely wadded scrap paper from a nearby
  158. trash can and, crackling it loudly toward the viewscreen, engages in 
  159. a small subterfuge.
  160.  
  161. AMPLA(VO)       Listen, I'm not a young female anymore.  I could
  162.                 die here waiting!  Can't you make an exception
  163.                 for your own --
  164.  
  165. TUUD            Premother Ampla?  I can't hear you.  You're
  166.                 breaking up.  Why don't we continue this
  167.                 conversation when you come on board -- 
  168.  
  169. AMPLA(VO)       Don't cut me off!  I won't stand for it!  The
  170.                 last time your mother did that, I ripped --
  171.  
  172. TUUD            AVALON out.
  173.  
  174. TUUD motions for the comm link with the shuttle to be cut, and goes over 
  175. to her station and slumps in her chair.
  176.  
  177. GEORGE          Major, what's going on?  Trouble with the
  178.                 shuttle?
  179.  
  180. TUUD            Yes and no.  My premother, my, my, what's the
  181.                 word, my _grand_mother has decided to pay me a
  182.                 surprise visit.
  183.  
  184. GEORGE is visibly mentally struggling to avoid being punched out as 
  185. a result of what he is about to say.
  186.  
  187. GEORGE          I, well, don't want to, ruffle your, err,
  188.                 metaphoric feathers, but I was wondering, if --
  189.  
  190. TUUD            Spit it out, George.
  191.  
  192. GEORGE          Well, has Pejorative genetics bestowed upon her, 
  193.                 a, aaahh, _similar_ disposition to, errrrm, your
  194.                 own?
  195.  
  196. TUUD            She _is_ my grandmother.  What do you think?
  197.  
  198. GEORGE          Oh.
  199.  
  200. TUUD            Actually, George, I'm lying --
  201.  
  202. GEORGE          Oh? 
  203.  
  204. TUUD            Yes.  Don't get me wrong; I love my premother
  205.                 dearly.   My whole family does.  But we _do_ all
  206.                 live in fear of her.  Y'see, she's a legislator,
  207.                 and the head of the major opposition political
  208.                 party.  And you don't want to know how
  209.                 _Pejorative_ she had to be to get there.

  211. GEORGE          Oh, dear.

  213. TUUD            Oh, spocking spock.

  223. A bright red star shines in the distance.  The first 8 notes of the 
  224. 'Blackadder' theme repeat a la 'STAR TREK' intro.  An audibly elderly 
  225. Garibaldric narrates.
  226.  
  227. GARIBALDRIC(VO) Space.  The biggest, darkest, coldest, biggest
  228.                 place there is.  Really.  I should know, I was
  229.                 dumped there.
  230.  
  231. An empty, discarded tin can moves quickly into view from our left,
  232. appearing to bounce off the camera lens and knocking our POV toward
  233. our right.  We follow the can as it moves away to our right and toward...
  234.  
  235. EFX:  EXT. AVALON 59
  236.  
  237. A large, dark gray Thermos-bottle in space, floating horizontally and
  238. rotating along its central core.
  239.  
  240. GARIBALDRIC(VO) This is the story of AVALON 59, one of the last
  241.                 of the SpaceBases built by the United Planets,
  242.                 Universal and Galactic, or 'UNPLUG'.
  243.  
  244.                 AVALON 59 was the last, best chance to sit around,
  245.                 do nothing and collect lots of goldless pratinum
  246.                 from all the governments who sent ambassadors.
  247.  
  248.                 As the name implies, there were 58 AVALONs before...
  249.  
  250. EFX: EXT. ORBITING SPACE STATION EXPLODING 
  251.  
  252. GARIBALDRIC(VO) Nineteen blew up...
  253.  
  254. EFX: EXT. PARTIALLY BUILT SPACE STATION 
  255.  
  256. A partially completed skeleton of another space station.  
  257.  
  258. GARIBALDRIC(VO) Fourteen were only partially built, and then
  259.                 stripped by galactic hoodlums...
  260.  
  261. INT. SPACECRUISER LOUNGE
  262.  
  263. A large, plush room.  An alien conducts an auction sale of the
  264. lovely space station visible outside the panoramic, floor-to-ceiling
  265. viewport at the rear of the lounge.
  266.  
  267. GARIBALDRIC(VO) Eleven were reposessed and sold at auction...
  268.  
  269. EFX: EXT. IN ORBIT AROUND EARTH 
  270.  
  271. Earth orbit, literally filled with thousands of satellites, cans, 
  272. wrenches, nuts, bolts and several space stations.
  273.  
  274. GARIBALDRIC(VO) The first nine were built and left in Earth orbit because
  275.                 nobody could figure out how to get them to their
  276.                 destination, the neutral planet Pejor.  The third
  277.                 actually fell out of orbit and became a Florida
  278.                 tourist attraction.
  279.  
  280. EFX: EXT. SPACE
  281.  
  282. GARIBALDRIC(VO) Four simply disappeared, although one of them was later
  283.                 seen in another quadrant, run completely by Elvis clones.
  284.                 But that's just a rumor...
  285.  
  286. EFX: EXT. SPACE STATION EXPLODING 
  287.  
  288. GARIBALDRIC(VO) AVALON 42 was destroyed in a collision with an
  289.                 ark carrying people calling themselves
  290.                 Golgafrinchams, in an incident whose
  291.                 improbability was later described as infinite.
  292.  
  293. EFX: EXT. AVALON 59
  294.  
  295. SUPER: STILL PHOTO OF BLACKADDER, GEORGE, G'WHIZ AND DELUXX.
  296.        SOMETHING NEXT TO BLACKADDER HAS BEEN TORN OUT OF THE PICTURE
  297.  
  298. GARIBALDRIC(VO) Oh yeah, I can't tell you about AVALON 59 without 
  299.                 mentioning me mates... Edmund Blackadder, Dr.
  300.                 George Cremator, Ambassador G'Whiz of the
  301.                 Yarn Republic, and the Cardigan Empire's ambas-
  302.                 sador Deluxx.
  303.  
  304. As if this is all an animation setup, two grubby hands move in to restore
  305. the torn-out spot on the photograph -- Garibaldric's picture.
  306.  
  307. GARIBALDRIC(VO) And that's me, Garibaldric.  I'm a shapeshifter.
  308.                 But I'm not very good at it.  I was trying to be
  309.                 a turnip in this picture.  But I ended up looking
  310.                 like some Earth prat.
  311.  
  312.                 AVALON 59.  Light-years of great parking, deck
  313.                 after deck of really cool shopping and loads of
  314.                 wet kisses and messy intrigue.
  315.  
  316. The background music kicks off into BLACKADDER theme while the series logo 
  317. and credits roll like every other boring old TV show.
  318.  
  319. FADE OUT.
  320.

  324.                                   ACT I
  325.  
  326. INT. OFFICERS MESS -- DINNERTIME
  327.  
  328. Cmdr. FLASHEART, BLACKADDER and GEORGE, in their UNPLUG dress uniforms, 
  329. await the arrival of TUUD and AMPLA for dinner.  FLASHEART is visibly
  330. nervous and fidgety.
  331.  
  332. FLASHEART       So, tell me again, Blackadder, why am I here?
  333.  
  334. BLACKADDER      Well, sir, several unfortunate circumstances
  335.                 involving your mother, father, and the failure of
  336.                 certain contraceptive devices --
  337.  
  338. FLASHEART       Blackadder!
  339.  
  340. BLACKADDER      My apologies, sir.  I couldn't resist such an
  341.                 open-ended question.
  342.  
  343. FLASHEART       Try harder next time, mister.
  344.  
  345. BLACKADDER      We are all here tonight at the request of Major
  346.                 Tuud.   It seems her grandmother has arrived for
  347.                 a sudden and unexpected visit.
  348.  
  349. FLASHEART       So?
  350.  
  351. BLACKADDER      Major Tuud's grandmother is a prominent
  352.                 opposition legislator on Pejor.
  353.  
  354. FLASHEART       I see.  Suck up time.  Expand our options.
  355.  
  356. BLACKADDER      Precisely.
  357.  
  358. GEORGE          You should have seen the Major earlier today when
  359.                 she found out.  She actually turned pale and had 
  360.                 to sit down for a while.  Y'know, I've never seen
  361.                 a Pejorative that frightened before.
  362.  
  363. FLASHEART       Major Tuud?  Frightened?
  364.  
  365. BLACKADDER      Sir, there is an old saying that the only thing
  366.                 more terrifying and unpleasant than a Pejorative
  367.                 is his mother.  And I would expect it to be
  368.                 appropriately multiplied when used in reference
  369.                 to a grandmother, and further exponentiated for
  370.                 one who is also a politician.
  371.  
  372. FLASHEART grabs BLACKADDER's uniform.
  373.  
  374. FLASHEART       What have you gotten me into this time,
  375.                 Blackadder? I don't need any more fear or terror. 
  376.                 I don't even need mild discomfort.  I don't even
  377.                 want a hint of unpleasantness.  At this point,
  378.                 bad breath could send me over the edge.  I'm at
  379.                 the threshold.  I c-c-can see the abyss in front
  380.                 of me.  It's beckoning me.  'Francis! Francis!
  381.                 Come to me! Let me envelop you in my oblivion!'
  382.  
  383. BLACKADDER      George!
  384.  
  385. FLASHEART       George!
  386.  
  387. GEORGE          Right!
  388.  
  389. GEORGE injects tranquilizer into FLASHEART.
  390.  
  391. GEORGE          How's that?
  392.  
  393. FLASHEART gradually relaxes and lets go of BLACKADDER's uniform.
  394.  
  395. FLASHEART       Better.  Thanks, George.  Where's Chief Nobrain and 
  396.                 Lt. Duk?
  397.  
  398. BLACKADDER      The computer informs us that Chief Nobrain is not
  399.                 on the base.  Furthermore it is adamant that he
  400.                 does not and never has existed here, or anywhere
  401.                 within UNPLUG territory for that matter.  While
  402.                 this would, of course, be a relief if only it
  403.                 were true, I am certain it is a ruse he has
  404.                 concocted as a means of evading his social
  405.                 duties.  
  406.  
  407. FLASHEART       What're you doing about it?
  408.  
  409. BLACKADDER      I've assigned my deputy Garibaldric to find him. 
  410.                 One whiff and the chief will be begging to return
  411.                 to duty.  As for our erstwhile science officer,
  412.                 at last report, she was trapped in her closet --
  413.  
  414. FLASHEART       Well, what are you standing here for?  Go get her
  415.                 out, man!
  416.  
  417. BLACKADDER      Sir, I'm afraid you misunderstand.  She is
  418.                 ensnared only by her own inability to decide what
  419.                 to wear tonight.
  420.  
  421. FLASHEART       But we always wear dress uniforms to these
  422.                 occasions.
  423.  
  424. BLACKADDER      Sir, if I may say so, your stunning display of
  425.                 logic underscores UNPLUG's wisdom in appointing
  426.                 you our leader.
  427.  
  428. TUUD (in Pejorative dress uniform) and AMPLA enter.
  429.  
  430. TUUD            Commander Flasheart, this is my grandmother, and
  431.                 member of the Pejorative governing assembly,
  432.                 Ampla Tuud.  
  433.  
  434. AMPLA           Please, don't make a fuss.  I'm just here to
  435.                 visit my stooshie.
  436.  
  437. FLASHEART and BLACKADDER show puzzlement at the term 'stooshie'.
  438.  
  439. TUUD            Stooshie is a term of endearment.
  440.  
  441. GEORGE          Hmmm, that's not what my Pejorative medical
  442.                 textbooks say.  A 'stooshie' is a particularly
  443.                 vile and nasty native parasite.  It (gestures)
  444.                 burrows into your abdomen and sucks out all your
  445.                 digestive fluids through your stomach! Then it
  446.                 clamps onto your spinal column and makes you
  447.                 do the hustle until you die of terminal
  448.                 embarassment!
  449.  
  450. TUUD            Yes! Yes, you're right, but Premother is using
  451.                 the secondary meaning.
  452.  
  453. GEORGE          Sorry, I guess we're all just a little nervous.
  454.  
  455. AMPLA           Don't be nervous!  I just want you to think of me
  456.                 as my little Adi's premother.  Don't give a
  457.                 thought to the fact that I could be the next
  458.                 leader of that little mudball you're in orbit
  459.                 around.
  460.  
  461. FLASHEART extends his hand to AMPLA.
  462.  
  463. FLASHEART       On behalf of UNPLUG, allow me to welcome you to
  464.                 AVALON 59.
  465.  
  466. AMPLA eyes FLASHEART's hand for a moment, then his face.
  467.  
  468. AMPLA           (To TUUD) Hmmph.  Seems too small.  If I caught
  469.                 something like him, I'd throw him back --
  470.  
  471. AMPLA finally shakes hands with FLASHEART.
  472.  
  473. AMPLA           Eeuuuhhh, what a worm!  Gimme a napkin so's I can
  474.                 wipe his sweat off my hand.
  475.  
  476. FLASHEART, already nervous, tries again to exchange pleasantries.
  477.  
  478. FLASHEART       Adi has told us a lot about you.
  479.  
  480. AMPLA           You liar!  No self-respecting Pejorative _ever_
  481.                 talks about her family to outsiders if she can
  482.                 help it.  So you're a worm and a liar.
  483.                 
  484. FLASHEART       (To BLACKADDER and GEORGE) OK, that's it, I fold. 
  485.                 Your turn, Constable.  George, I need another
  486.                 hit.
  487.  
  488. GEORGE          Aye, sir.
  489.  
  490. GEORGE and FLASHEART walk over to a convenient corner, where GEORGE 
  491. administers the medication.  BLACKADDER moves into position to greet
  492. AMPLA.  
  493.  
  494. AMPLA           So, who are you?
  495.  
  496. TUUD            This is Edmund Blackadder, our chief of security.
  497.  
  498. BLACKADDER takes a breath, collects his thoughts, then speaks.
  499.  
  500. BLACKADDER      Madam, I would _like_ to say that it is a pleasure
  501.                 to meet you, but it would, in fact, be an
  502.                 _utter_lie_.  In fact, you are the most
  503.                 unpleasant old crone it has been my misfortune to
  504.                 encounter, and, given the number of unpleasant 
  505.                 old crones I've been forced to encounter over my
  506.                 lifetime, _that's_ saying something.
  507.  
  508. TUUD, visibly shaken by BLACKADDER's forthrightness, faints.
  509.  
  510. AMPLA           Now, here's a man who speaks his mind.  I like
  511.                 that.   Whatsamatter with him, stooshie?  He's
  512.                 got spocks!  If I were younger.  Well, if I were
  513.                 younger, we'd be playing 'Caves and Seasnakes',
  514.                 if you get my drift.
  515.  
  516. BLACKADDER smiles, as if he is flattered by AMPLA's compliment.
  517.  
  518. BLACKADDER      I seriously doubt it.
  519.  
  520. AMPLA finally notices that TUUD has fainted.
  521.  
  522. AMPLA           Stooshie?  Stooshie?  Hmmph.  No spocks.  Y'know,
  523.                 Eddie, she was always the weak one.  No spocks at
  524.                 all.  Nothing like her sisters.  Oh, she'd cry
  525.                 at the drop of a sock.
  526.  
  527. BLACKADDER      Really?  How interesting!  You must tell me more!
  528.  
  529. AMPLA, in typical Pejorative fashion, grabs BLACKADDER's arm and they
  530. step together over TUUD as they move over to the dining table.
  531.  
  532. AMPLA           Oh, the stories I could tell about little Adi. 
  533.                 Y'know when she was young, she used to...
  534.  
  535. FLASHEART       (Obviously sedated) George, I'm gonna have a
  536.                 little lie-down now.  Why don't you look after
  537.                 the Major?
  538.  
  539. FLASHEART falls like a feather to the floor.
  540.  
  541. FADE OUT.

  547.  
  548. INT.  BLACKADDER'S OFFICE -- THE NEXT MORNING
  549.  
  550. BLACKADDER is, as usual, sipping his morning cuppa, and looking over
  551. security printouts and files.  GARIBALDRIC walks in from an adjoining
  552. room.
  553.  
  554. GARIBALDRIC     Good morning, sir!
  555.  
  556. BLACKADDER      What's so good about it, you galactic gelatin?
  557.  
  558. GARIBALDRIC     Well, now that you mention it, nothing, actually. 
  559.                 I suppose I could have said, 'Average morning,
  560.                 sir' or 'Absolutely nothing special about this
  561.                 morning, sir'.  How about, 'Totally unoriginal
  562.                 morning, sir'.
  563.

  858. guitar, but a whole rhythm section.  BLACKADDER, GEORGE, FLASHEART and 
  859. TUUD look on from behind the window between the sickbay and the 
  860. waiting room.

  862. INT. SICKBAY WAITING ROOM
  863.  
  864. BLACKADDER, GEORGE and TUUD brood while FLASHEART borders on hysteria.
  865.  
  866. FLASHEART       Here lies Francis Tiberius Flasheart.  He tried
  867.                 to follow in his brother's footsteps and got
  868.                 stepped on.  You know what they'll do.  First,
  869.                 they'll courtmartial me, then they'll draw and
  870.                 quarter me and pack me into little cans and sell
  871.                 me as dog food! Hahahahahahahahaha! But I'm not
  872.                 going alone.  Nosiree! I'm taking you ALL with
  873.                 me!  There'll be George flavor dog food, and
  874.                 Blackadder flavor dog food, and --

  876. GEORGE          Sir, you're getting a bit tense again.

  878. GEORGE quickly injects FLASHEART with some tranquilizer.  FLASHEART
  879. immediately relaxes.

  883. FLASHEART drops to the floor.  George tabs a small viewscreen/keypad
  884. embedded in the wall.

  886. GEORGE          Nurse, The commander has had another of his fits.

  888.                 sickbay is ready and bring a stretcher and the
  889.                 double-strength restraining jacket?  We don't
  890.                 want a repeat of last time.

  892. GEORGE removes his finger from the keypad and shakes his head.

  894. GEORGE          Dreadful.  Dropping like flies.  Simply dreadful.

  896. A couple of ORDERLIES pick up FLASHEART and carry him off.

  898. BLACKADDER      But, fortunately, George, no one has died, in
  899.                 spite of your care.

  901. TUUD            You mean she'll survive?

  903. GEORGE          Oh, yes, of course.  She'll be unconscious for a
  904.                 while longer, but she'll be good as new in a
  905.                 couple of days.

  909. GEORGE          Y'know, I really should have studied Pejorative
  910.                 culture in greater depth.  For example, until
  911.                 today, I had no idea that most Pejorative
  912.                 clothing is resistant to fire from most
  913.                 stun-guns.

  915. BLACKADDER      Yes, well, we are all appropriately thankful for
  916.                 that Ripleyesque tidbit, believe it or not.

  918. GEORGE          Y'know, Edmund, I just noticed something strange.

  922. GEORGE          No!  I mean, where are all the Pejorative
  923.                 journalists?   Shouldn't we have been overrun

  927.                 blackout.

  929. BLACKADDER      (Disdain and mock admiration) Of course, they
  930.                 didn't know they were being blacked out, did

  933. TUUD            I told them to gather on the shuttle 4Q2 for a
  934.                 press conference.  Then, I shut the door and
  935.                 auto-launched them back to the planet.  In my
  936.                 opinion, the only good news-blatter is a deaf
  937.                 one.

  939. BLACKADDER      Major, did it ever occur to you that the assassin
  940.                 might have been on the shuttle, and that you just
  941.                 set him free?

  943. TUUD            (Surprise) I hadn't thought of that.

  945. BLACKADDER      And that, my dear Major Tuud, is why I run
  946.                 security and you storm about in your jackboots,
  947.                 striking macho postures and engaging in random
  948.                 acts of wanton destruction with Chief Nobrain.

  950. DELUXX enters, minimally acknowledging the others and walking straight
  951. up to BLACKADDER.

  961. We look at DELUXX again, and see that she has a Trivial Pursuit card on

  963. card in his palm, and wraps his hand around it.

  966.                 you were just squeezing it in your hand.  Ta!

  968. DELUXX exits past GEORGE, whose jaw has dropped, and a smirking, 
  969. eyebrow-arching TUUD.   TUUD picks up a convenient sickbay towel...

  1030. BLACKADDER leans back.  TUUD, standing outside, gets his attention.
  1031. He pushes a button, opening the door to his office.  TUUD enters.

  1035. TUUD            I just wanted you to know that, well, when I left
  1036.                 sickbay, I wasn't crying.

  1200. GEORGE answers the viewscreen.  BLACKADDER is calling.

  1206. GEORGE          It was touch-and-go for a while, but we managed
  1207.                 to  stabilize her condition.  She had a quiet
  1208.                 night. I still say she'll recover.  However, if
  1209.                 she tries to drink liquids, she may irrigate the
  1210.                 Promenade instead!

  1212. BLACKADDER      George!
  1213.  
  1214. GEORGE          Sorry, just a little bedside humor.  Don't worry,
  1215.                 she's a real fighter.  She isn't that easy to
  1216.                 kill.

  1236. expression of a really dim individual who believes he just may have
  1237. been insulted, but he's not sure how.

  1266. FLASHEART       As you all know, there have been two attempts on
  1267.                 Madame Tuud in the past twenty-four hours.  I've
  1268.                 called this meeting to determine two things: 
  1269.                 first, who is going to take the blame for this
  1270.                 instead of me; and second, how I can get back to
  1271.                 Earth before UNPLUG Central hears about this.

  1273. BLACKADDER      Sir, if I may, I think it would be more prudent
  1274.                 to discuss how to get Madame Tuud off the station
  1275.                 and back to Pejor.

  1277. NOBRAIN         How about we give her a parachute and seal her in
  1278.                 a large waste disposal pod, fasten some solid

  1343. They pass by a door marked 'ROUND ROOM'.  BLACKADDER opens the door.

  1369.                 lapel-pin communicators you don't forget to put on.
  1370.                 (To viewscreen) This is Edmund Blackadder.

  1372. COMPUTER(VO)    Prepare for retinal scan.

  1374. BLACKADDER      Damn security measures.  When I meet the inventor of
  1375.                 this atrocity, I'm going to --

  1377. A small mechanical eye on a metal arm pops out from beside the viewscreen.
  1378. It gyrates around the cabinet as it searches for BLACKADDER's right eye.
  1379. Having located its quarry, it blinks a couple of times, beeps and emits a 
  1380. red beam at BLACKADDER's pupil for a second or two.
  1381.  
  1382. COMPUTER(VO)    Retinal scan confirmed.  Password?
  1383.  
  1384. BLACKADDER      (Sotto voce) Aah'ghad.  Ahem.  (Speaking voice) My path
  1385.                 is strewn with cowpads from the Devil's own satanic herd!

  1387. COMPUTER(VO)    Password accepted.  Standby to begin call.

  1389. GEORGE appears on the viewscreen.  He's looking away from his viewscreen
  1390. and playing with some stupid executive toy like he's been on hold for quite
  1391. a while.

  1393. BLACKADDER      Yes, George?
  1394.  
  1395. GEORGE          (Surprised) Oh!  I forgot.  Errm, ahhh, oh yes. 
  1396.                 I thought you ought to know immediately.  Madame
  1397.                 Tuud has gone, well, missing from sickbay.
  1398.  
  1399. BLACKADDER      Is there anything else you want me to know before
  1400.                 I kill you, cut you up into little pieces and
  1401.                 serve you with fava beans and just a pinch of
  1402.                 garlic?

  1404. GEORGE          Errm, I don't know.  Can you give me a hint?

  1406. BLACKADDER      George, how LONG has she been missing?

  1428.                 in the universe is the rate at which karmic dung

  1433. COMPUTER (VO)   Security alert.  Security alert.

  1435. TUUD            Turn off that damned security alert, I can't hear
  1436.                 myself think!

  1438. TECHNICIAN      Major, UNPLUG shuttle _Nirvana_ is departing without
  1439.                 authorization from Bay Nine.

  1441. TUUD            Punch up Bay Nine on the viewscreen and shut the
  1442.                 doors.

  1444. TUUD mouse-clicks a couple of points on her workstation.
  1445.  
  1446. TUUD            Shuttle _Nirvana_, This is AVALON 59.  Return to base
  1447.                 immediately.
  1448.  
  1449. TECHNICIAN      Too late.
  1450.  
  1451. TUUD            Damn!  Lock on with tractor beams.  Bring it back.

  1453. TECHNICIAN      Tractor?
  1454.  
  1455. The TECHNICIAN shrugs, then mouse-clicks a few times on the workstation.

  1457. EFX: EXT.  OUTSIDE BAY NINE
  1458.  
  1459. The escaping shuttle is flying toward our POV.  AVALON 59 floats in
  1460. the distance.
  1461.  
  1462. Close-up to a small door near Bay Nine.  The door slides open.  A large 
  1463. horseshoe magnet connected to a heavy-duty metal chain is ejected from 
  1464. the door, flies quickly through space, and attaches to the shuttle with a 
  1465. metallic 'thunk'.  A couple of metal plates fold out of the sides of the 
  1466. horseshoe magnet, along with little nozzles marked SUPER-GLUE.  The nozzles 
  1467. spray superglue onto the ship, and the metal plates make contact with the
  1468. surface.
  1469.  
  1470. INT.  AVALON CONTROL
  1471.  
  1472. The AVALON Control Viewscreen shows the view from a camera positioned near
  1473. Bay Nine.   We see the chain being automatically rolled up and the shuttle
  1474. being pulled back.
  1475.  
  1476. TECHNICIAN      Tractor locked on.
  1477.  
  1478. TUUD            Good.  Pull 'em back in.  I'm going to Bay Nine.
  1479.                 Contact Blackadder and have him meet me there.

  1482. INT.  BAY NINE
  1483.  
  1484. Shuttle _Nirvana_ rests on the pad, doors closed, surrounded by SECURITY
  1485. GUARDS.  TUUD enters.
  1486.  
  1487. TUUD            Ok, boys, open 'er up.
  1488.  
  1489. One of the SECURITY GUARDS presses some buttons next to the back door
  1490. of the shuttle.  An eyeball like the one from the courtesy phone pops
  1491. out from the panel and scans the guard.  A moment passes, then the
  1492. back door opens up to reveal a totally empty cabin.  TUUD peers in,
  1493. then enters the shuttle.
  1494.  
  1495. TUUD            Look! On the accelerator!  A brick!
  1496.  
  1497. BLACKADDER, sneaks up behind TUUD and looks over her shoulder.
  1498.  
  1499. BLACKADDER      Brick on the accelerator.  The oldest trick in
  1500.                 the book.  (Touching comm bracelet)  Security
  1501.                 console, AVALON control.
  1502.  
  1503. BLACKADDER waits for the light on the comm bracelet to go from red to 
  1504. green, indicating that the connection has been made.
  1505.  
  1506. BLACKADDER      It appears that Madame Tuud has decided to leave
  1507.                 us ahead of schedule.  Seal off the station.
  1508.                 Blackadder out. (To Tuud) She won't get far.
  1509.  
  1510. TUUD            Premother?  I don't understand.
  1511.  
  1512. BLACKADDER      George informed me that your dear grandmother left
  1513.                 sickbay a little while ago.
  1514.  
  1515. TUUD            How do you know she wasn't kidnapped?
  1516.  
  1517. BLACKADDER      Well, for one, the sickbay vid monitor log shows
  1518.                 her getting up and walking away under her own
  1519.                 power. Admittedly not the strongest of evidence,
  1520.                 but I personally find it rather compelling.
  1521.  
  1522. A viewscreen along the wall of Bay Nine rings.  TUUD answers.  It's
  1523. AMPLA, from another shuttle.
  1524.  
  1525. AMPLA           Hello, stooshie!

  1527. TUUD            Premother, where are you?  What are you doing?

  1529. AMPLA           Got a call.  A lobby group on Pejor wants to do
  1530.                 some major sucking up to me, so I had to leave.

  1534. TUUD            But -- but you were in serious condition!

  1536. AMPLA           And now I'm in the UNPLUG shuttle _R._E._M._  It's
